The following documentaries are, to me, among the most important documentaries for our time. Each of them sheds light on the current state of the medical system and institutions such as the CDC and the WHO. They deal with the history of important illnesses such as AIDS and post-MMR-vaccine autism, among others.
Issues dealt with in each of them disproportionately affect people of African descent, but certainly not exclusively so: these issues affect everyone, no matter our ethnicity or where we live...
House of Numbers
My rating: *****
Is AIDS what we’ve been led to believe? This eye-opening film traces a young filmmaker’s journey to try to understand the real meaning of AIDS. In my opinion, this is one of the best made and most thought-provoking documentaries ever. I feel it also casts light on other paramount issues, not directly related to AIDS, as it reveals mechanisms of health politics that took hold in the 80s, now affecting the whole world.
If this documentary interests you and you want to know more, I recommend the following interviews...

“VAXXED: From Coverup to Catastrophe”
My Rating: *****
Also excellently produced, this documentary gives voice to thousands of parents whose children have become autistic directly following a vaccine, usually MMR. Anyone consenting to their child to being injected with an MMR vaccine (particularly under the age of 3 and/or following treatment with antibiotics) plays Russian roulette with their child’s future... as well as their own as they may have to provide special care for a permanently brain-injured child for a lifetime. Thanks to a lead researcher (turned whistleblower) who participated in the CDC’s MMR/autism study in the early 2000s, this film exposes the rank corruption within the CDC, and a revolving door between the CDC and the vaccine industry.
“Medical Racism”
My Rating: ***
Filmmakers confront long-standing experimentation on people of color — exposing the underbelly of government and pharma research programs targeting blacks and latinos.
I found especially first part of Medical Racism difficult to follow. The producers tried to cover a vast range of material in a short time, seemingly without a clear plan of how to present it — (maybe “too many chefs in the kitchen”?). Despite the problems in execution, I rate this as an important documentary. There is some overlap with the other two documentaries—especially VAXXED—and I think watching the the others first will help make parts of this documentary easier to understood.
The documentary is introduced by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. — son of Robert F. Kennedy and nephew of John F. Kennedy — who is one of the film’s five producers.
“Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is founder of Waterkeeper Alliance and founder, chairman of the board and chief legal counsel for Children’s Health Defense. He is also counsel to Morgan & Morgan, a nationwide personal injury practice. Kennedy is an esteemed author, with a long list of published books including the New York Times’ bestseller, “Crimes Against Nature.” Mr. Kennedy was named one of Time magazine’s “Heroes for the Planet” for his success helping Riverkeeper lead the fight to restore the Hudson River. His reputation as a resolute defender of the environment and children’s health stems from a litany of successful legal actions. He received recognition for his role in the landmark victory against Monsanto last year, as well as in the DuPont Case that inspired the movie ‘Dark Waters’ (2019).”
